Monthly Scheduled Maintenance - November 2012

Due to essential maintenance work prompted by the latest security patch releases, it will be necessary to perform a reboot of the server your website is hosted from during the following maintenance window;

Tuesday 13th November 2012, between the hours of 18:00 - 22:00.

At the point of restart your website will become unavailable, however downtime is not expected to exceed 15 minutes, we will always strive to keep disruption to an absolute minimum. Unfortunately it is not possible to give an exact time for the reboot as the number of patches released varies significantly each month.

Tuesday's release is currently expected to contain the following;

The Microsoft based servers have a total of six updates across all products, there are a small number of updates for the majority of Linux based servers as well however they do not relate to the core OS so may mean a restart will not be required. Our web application framework gets some additional functionality to aid easy deployment and content management within a multi-site install, a small number of bug fixes and general improvements are also included. Customers on the latest version of the CMS (v2.4) will again receive some automatic updates to the latest version of the WYSIWYG editor and customers who utilise our Forms module and are not on the latest version (v.1.2.4) are being upgrade free of charge. In reality visitors won’t see any difference but there is better handling of data behind the scenes, a number of bugs have been cleared up, and we’ve provided some useful additional options within the admin.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused however this work is essential to maintain the systems and to allow us to continue to provide a robust and resilient service and ensure your site remains secure. These regular monthly updates are included as part of the managed hosting service that we provide to you.

If you would like to know more about how this will affect your website then just submit a ticket with your questions or call Client Services on 08444 176 095 and we'll be happy to help.

    We are pleased to say the majority of scheduled maintenance was completed successfully however several of the update to the CMS could not be released due to unexpected delays. A handful of changes are now scheduled to be carried out later this week and will not require any restarts or cause any visible disruption to you or your visitors.
