Due to essential maintenance work prompted by the latest security patch releases, it will be necessary to perform a reboot of the server your website is hosted from during the following maintenance window;
Tuesday 11th September 2012, between the hours of 18:00 - 22:00.
At the point of restart your website will become unavailable, however downtime is not expected to exceed 15 minutes, we will always strive to keep disruption to an absolute minimum. Unfortunately it is not possible to give an exact time for the reboot as the number of patches released varies significantly each month.
Tuesday's release is currently expected to contain the following;
Microsoft have only two security issues to patch, both for software which is not installed on active web-servers. There will be security definitions which will have to be updated, but it seems likely that most of the Windows servers will not require a reboot on this occasion. There are core OS updates required for Linux machines and so most of these will require a reboot to pick these up. Our web application framework gets updates to improve the in-built cache functionality, an update to support multiple different payment gateways across a single website and a bug fix which could affect deleting items in our extended workflow functionality. There will be a minor update to the latest version of our CMS to support better content grouping within the backend admin during site construction.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused however this work is essential to maintain the systems and to allow us to continue to provide a robust and resilient service and ensure your site remains secure. These regular monthly updates are included as part of the managed hosting service that we provide to you.
